Proclamation of Coworking Day
Grand Junction, CO — On Wednesday, August 7th, 2019, the Grand Junction City Council proclaimed August 9th, 2019 as “Coworking Day in the City of Grand Junction.” FACTORY, FWorks, JXN Station, Paliworx and VAULT Real Estate Community are five locally owned and operated coworking spaces spanning across the Grand Valley. Each of these spaces provide a unique workplace experience, where individuals find connection in the community by working together instead of alone at home.
Coworking, a term that came to be on August 9, 2005, is defined as a self-directed, collaborative, flexible and voluntary work style that is based on mutual trust and the sharing of common core values between its participants.
“On behalf of all five coworking spaces, I would like to thank Grand Junction City Council for this honor and recognizing August 9th as Coworking Day. We are thankful to be a part of the entrepreneurial community in Grand Junction. We love partnering with other coworking spaces to provide connection, collaboration, and camaraderie. On Coworking Day, and every day, we celebrate the spirit of collaboration and community that is the essence of what coworking is,” says Julia Sundstrom, Community Manager of FACTORY.
All five coworking spaces celebrated by offering free coworking all day. The public was invited to stop by for a tour, enjoy the festivities, and a chance to win three free months of coworking by participating in the Grand Valley Progressive Work Day on Thursday, August 9th, 2019. Members of the public were able to drop in and work for free on International Coworking Day at all five coworking spaces by using code “WESTSLOPECOWORKING”. The first person to work out of all five spaces on August 9th won three free months of coworking!
About International Coworking Day:
International Coworking Day is a day to celebrate coworking across the world. Coworking is much more than an office space where members gather to work. It is the collaborative spirit that develops when people are in proximity to each other every day. Coworking spaces are often inhabited by small companies, freelancers and remote workers, who work in an environment that is conducive to productivity and builds community.
